Purpose of Life

Oh we’re getting deep now! What do you think the purpose of life is? If we are in the business of making babies and raising them, we might want to take a second to consider why. Why are we here? What is the point? Have you considered your own beliefs?

I’ll share with you mine. Since this is my blog, after-all. Take them or leave them. Since we are here on faith, we don’t know for sure, so it’s all T line anyway. Thoughts. And we get to choose which thoughts to take or leave according to how they play out FOR US on our own models, right? So, here we go….

Today I think there are two purposes of life. (always subject to change ;)

  1. To learn how to Love

  2. To trust God

Everything we do in this life and everything that happens to us is to this end.

I used to believe that I was so impatient and that my mission was to learn patience. Then i was single “forever” and that was supposed to teach me patience. Then I had kids! I guess I never learned patience because kids are really trying to teach me to be patient. Again. When will I learn?

Turns out I was trying to learn the wrong thing. When I focus on being impatient, I get more impatient. I’m impatiently trying to be patient. Didn’t work. When I focus on trusting God and learning to love, then patience is a byproduct.

So, yes, God lets bad things happen in this world. We may bring it on ourselves or someone else’s agency may cause it, but either way, we can learn a lesson about how to love better and we can always increase our trust and faith in God.
